You're Invited: Refugee Crisis Discussion in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn

Friends, this community is always up to good and I'm so glad to be one that a woman writes to say: "Can you post about this discussion I'm hosting in Brooklyn, to help refugees?" Oh my heart. Yes.

Because this is a community of love for humanity - and I know we all feel deeply for these refugee families. So I'm honored and grateful to have this platform to invite you to this event in Brooklyn...

Now get this:

Haley Smith is a Mormon woman from Arizona and bought a ticket to Greece to figure out how she could help refugees. It has now become her full-time gig and she literally started a refugee camp for Yazidi women and children! OMG, this woman is a powerhouse!!!! She now has a non-profit called Lifting Hands International. Unreal, right?

She runs her non-profit incredibly efficiently, taking barely any money for herself. Dollars go directly to feeding and sheltering women and children who have escaped war and genocide and other incomprehensible atrocities. But she needs more money and more help. So she's making her way back from Greece and has a stop-over in Brooklyn. Linsey Laidlaw, another organizing mover & shaker, is hosting this discussion and fundraiser November 13.

If you're in the area, please, please come - these are powerful women changing the world and I know that's up your alley, too. Haley will be sharing her stories and experiences of being on the ground, and will be doing a Q&A. What an unreal opportunity to actually get very in touch with what's going on. Plus you'll get to meet many of my dearest friends in the area and I know they'd love to meet you. It's so nice to feel a sense of community and to do something meaningful together. It's what the best stuff in life is made of. Send me a pic if you go!!

For those who cannot attend...

Perhaps we can show our desire to be there in spirit by sending a small token of support in our place. You can send in a donation HERE. And I know even small tokens go far in both supporting a cause and offering emotional support, encouragement, and strength to the ones who are carrying it out.

Thank you, dear friends, for reading.

With Love,

Mara
