This event was special because people traveled far to see us. Canada. New Jersey. Florida. Washington D.C. (And Chicago, too.) One guest even brought her father, which was all sorts of special in itself. Oh, how we desired for them all to feel that the event was worth the hours they had traveled.
(Something fun: We got to stay with my brother, sister-in-law, niece and nephew who live right in downtown Chicago. It was SO great to see them before and after the retreat.)
We loved our commute to Wicker Park each morning from downtown Chicago. It included walking through the set of the next Spike Lee film (it's about gun violence in Chicago and yes, there were gunshots on set that were making the neighborhood on edge.) But as we walked in each day, it felt so good to know what we were about to do...we were about to gather with some beautiful souls and talk about how we can heal and send our love and peace into the world. There is nothing better than that. I said to Danny, "Can you believe we get to do this for 'work' today?"
We met each day with our guests in an INCREDIBLE flat that was built within a former church. Stained glass was our backdrop and 36 ft. ceilings took our breath away. It felt like the perfect setting for a reset.
Danny and I taught our hearts out. It just came out as best as we could have hoped. I don't ever take that for granted. We taught every bit we could about how it is that we've learned to experience happiness, healing, and peace in life.
People did new things they'd never done before and had many a-ha moments that are now affecting the course of their lives. They're doing it!!! We get to see several from the sidelines. And it's INCREDIBLE to see.
We couldn't have asked for anything more.
And we even got to eat bimbimbap for lunch (so good).
And the father that came? Who had never read the blog? He said that being there was one of the best things he'd ever done. The daughter reports that he still can't stop talking about it. :)
Something meaningful to us...
Our volunteer in Chicago had the biggest heart in the world. She wrote us well over a year ago (before the Tour came about) and said she'd LOVE to help us host an event in Chicago if we'd come. We weren't able to do it right away, but she patiently stayed in touch and sent us reminders until the time was right. From that act of kindness and generous persistence came the inspiration for the entire U.S. Tour!! Talk about the power of one human being to get something going. We can't thank her enough.
With love to all of you, especially our Chicago guests (2 days was not enough!)
