Love Announcements

Hello, friends!
Oh my heck, your comments yesterday were HILARIOUS and kept cracking us up all day. Thank you so much for the laugh. I mean, c'mon, frosting covered animal crackers? Could there be a better childhood snack for a read-a-thon?! haha. :) This week I had a similar flashback to the fourth grade when I sampled the flavor "Chicle" at a sorbet shop. Oh my. I'm not gonna lie, it still tasted good.

Here are few things I hope you enjoy...

-Gah! Abby's amazing home was featured on Cup of Jo this week! Abby is one of the best designers I know. I have been SO lucky to see her design (and have her design stuff for me) over the years. And as you can see, she is one of the best curators ever. See the rest of her home pics here.

-THIS watermelon cake by Paleo Cupboard has left me swooning. Isn't it brilliant? We love coconut cream frosting around here. And we most definitely plan to make this sometime this summer. Thanks to my sister-in-law, Kelli, for sending the recipe to us!

-Here are 3 home movie suggestions for your weekend. (Danny often picks out our movies and he does such a good job):

1. Saving Mr. Banks - This movie was FULL of magic and joy. You would expect nothing less about the story of Mary Poppins and Walt Disney. I was left with just a love for humanity and the imagination. It's starring Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson.

2. May I Be Frank - This is about a New Yorker man who was ridden with disease, obesity and depression. He met some raw foodies who worked at Cafe Gratitude in CA and they agreed to help him transform his life. They filmed the whole transformation over many months and it's absolutely incredible & inspiring!! It will make you want to drink some green juice. :)

3. Baraka - This film has some of the most amazing cinematography ever. Think Planet Earth style. But instead, it's full of scenes of human life and culture from around the world. Trust me, your jaw will drop. And you will love this amazing world we live in. And you will want to travel. And you won't fall asleep even if it's late at night and even despite the fact there's no speaking.

-And, you know I love Chris Cammock. Look at this video she just produced about the employees of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. Her work is amazing. I'm so thankful for the incredible women around me adding so much beauty into the world. And, a huge, huge hug to anyone being affected by cancer right now. May you be surrounded by love and kindness and tender care. We send you all the encouragement in the world, and I wish we could bring you a meal or drive you to an appointment while having a good chat. We love you.

May you all have a good weekend with loved ones!

XO,
Mara

    1. wow - that conference looks like it will be so lovely! I would totally want to go to something like that. Though I guess this year it won't be a possibility. But thanks so much for writing!

  2. Last night I watched 'Philomena' and it was wonderful! Touching and funny, and about forgiveness and disappointments. If you haven't see it I highly recommend it!

    1. Hi! The recipe itself (in the link) can explain it much better...but basically you get a can of coconut milk or coconut cream and put it in the fridge and the cream will solidify and separate from the liquids. Then you scoop out the solid part, sweeten it, and then mix it with an electric mixer. It turns into the creamiest, richest whipped cream. Though you need to use coconut cream with as little guar gum in it as possible or it won't work - they say the brand Native Forest works well. I would not recommend the Trader Joe's brand.

  5. I am greatly weighed down by your opinions for that specific tale. A additional deeper and staged expertise could well be very fine for me
