I also highly recommend Raymond’s maple leaf candy. So, so tasty.
Below is the longest two-span covered bridge in America! It’s right in Windsor, a few minutes from the Inn. Excuse me, ma’am, “Walk Your Horses or Pay Two Dollars Fine.”
Charming Vermont Foodie Shops. Sustainable Farmer was especially fun to visit (they have a whole section of super foods.) Also, they will customize a welcome bag for your room at Snapdragon. DO IT and feel spoiled when you get off the train and minutes later arrive to the most delicious, local goodies made from whole ingredients. I highly, highly recommend asking for: Raw Spinach Dip w/ crackers (they do have GF Whole Grain Glutinos, if needed), Cashew Chocolate Truffles (paleo, no sugar, super clean ingredients), Village Cannery Organic Applesauce, Jan’s Farmhouse Crisps, Local Cheddar or cheese curds, raw honey (they harvest their own!), and maple butter.
And Woodstock Farmers’ Market is the PERFECT place to pick up sandwiches and freshly prepared side dishes made in-house, as well as locally made specialty foods. I loved the Mediterranean salads and Vermont Maple Walnut Peanut Butter.
Old School Restaurants. We had dinner at Windsor Station Restaurant. Yes, it’s a train station! It’s RIGHT NEXT TO THE TRAIN TRACKS and it’s such a thrill to sit there while the Amtrak trains speed by during dinner. I have a nephew who would go crazy over that place.
