The First Annual Love Limerick

(by Danny)

This post has been a year in the making!  Last year, a day or two after St. Patrick's Day, I was thinking about how much fun my work's Annual Limerick Contest was...and that maybe I should try writing one for the blog.

And that's when inspiration hit me and this beauty appeared in my mind:

**************

There once was a blog about love
Where Mara wrote all she could think of
About courage and grace
In life's trials you face
There's nothing more she'd rather speak of

**************
But alas...it was too late to post and so it sat as a note on my iPhone that I completely forgot about until last Friday when the thought occurred to me that St. Patrick's Day was around the corner.  You have no idea how happy I am to finally share it with you. And I'd be even happier to read your own Love Limericks!

Do you guys want to join in on writing an Annual Limerick?! If so, let the creative juices flow, spend a few minutes coming up with something clever, and share it with the rest of us in the comments. If you have kids and they want to give it a try, too, we'd be thrilled. (Refresh your memory about limericks here.)

If you want to see other holiday related love poetry on our blog, check out the 14 "Come Hither Haiku" that Koseli Cummings wrote for Valentines Day (they are sexy love tips in 17 syllables!) And Mara even wrote her own love Haiku in the comments of that post (see here.)

  1. There was a young lass named Reb.
Who loved to read blogs on the web
    There was one about love
    With words sent from above
The dear author must be a Cerub!

Cerub: an angel of the second order whose gift is knowledge; usually portrayed as a winged child

    1. Haha, I love it!!

I was beginning to think we wouldn't get any! Thanks for joining in.

And by the way, I hope nobody thought they needed to be about the blog. They can be about any kind of love you want...hubby love, kiddy love, friendly love....any kind.

      Thanks again Rebekah!

  2. About ten years ago, my sister was sick with the flu and since she was just laying in bed she made up limericks for every member of our family! This was mine:

There once was a girl named Maliss
Whose lips I decided to kiss
    So when she got near
    I grabbed for her rear
And life after that was bliss.

I didn't even know these were limericks! I just thought my sister was really clever ;)

  3. Well here is one about how I met my hubby.
There once was a lad who loved to sing
About the love fate one day would bring
God led a lass to his door
In need of hope to the core
So he rescued her with a better than Irish Blessing

    Limerick Girl

There was a girl named Sue Magoo
She had bad smells coming from her shoe
    All would say, stay away!
    Then she met Mr. Jay
But he would say, Sue I love you
