We're Going To Vermont, And You're Invited!

Today's post is really fun for me.

We decided to squeeze in one more thing before we leave for Ecuador (you probably already know we're a little nuts…)

WE ARE HOSTING AN EVENT IN VERMONT FOR OUR BLOG READERS & FRIENDS.

The dates are February 28, March 1 & 2.

We are so sorry we're not giving you as much notice as we'd like. But we recently made plans to head to Vermont and thought we should at least see if anyone would like to join us. Can you help us spread the word?

We'll be staying at the gorgeous Snapdragon Inn in Windsor, Vermont and I think the weekend will be just amazing. We met two of the owners at Alt Summit who, along with their family, transformed an incredible historic home in Vermont into a luxury boutique Inn.

Here's the low down -

Danny & I would just love the opportunity to meet as many readers as we can. GOOD THINGS HAPPEN IN PERSON! It's happened again and again every time we meet someone…we can't help but want to make this happen more often.

And so, no guarantees, but we are going to try our best in this next year to come to you - wherever you are.

**Let us know in the comments if you'd be interested in an event of some kind being held in your area.**

This will actually help us a lot in determining where to go. (Also, add if you have any way of helping us put together an event in your area. Any suggestions, venue ideas, offers for help with logistics, etc. would be so helpful to us. :)

Here's the schedule for the weekend in Vermont:

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28

3:00 pm - Check-in. If you arrive early, the Inn can direct you to places to explore and take your bags until the rooms are ready. (Note: the Snapdragon Inn is VERY accessible by train from NYC, etc.)

6:00 pm - Dinner included at Windsor Station Restaurant.

8:00 pm Workshop & Discussion Around the Fire with Danny & Mara: CHOOSING HAPPINESS. Enjoy warm chocolate chip cookies, too.

SATURDAY, MARCH 1

Breakfast Included. The Inn serves stone ground breads from a local wood fired oven in Windsor, fresh fruit, granola, farm fresh eggs, and Vermont Greek yogurt. Tea & Coffee served 24/7.

9:30 am - Workshop by Danny & Mara: HEALING & SELF WORTH

Lunch - Woodstock Farmers Market Picnic - Included. (from nearby Woodstock, Vermont)

Afternoon Options:

Glass Blowing WorkshopIt's next door to the Inn and sounds amazing!! I totally want to do this. You'll pick up your finished pieces the next day as they need a night to cool.

Snowshoeing or Dogsledding, depending on the snow! (Fingers crossed.)

Paradise Park Gazebo Walk

Visit Nearby Maple Farm - Raymond's Sugar House. It's "Maple Sugaring Season" in Vermont and depending on the weather, they just might be tapping the maple trees and making syrup in the sugaring shacks. I've always wanted to experience this. In either case, there will be maple cream and maple syrup a-plenty. I can't wait.

Artisans Park Tour & Path of Life Gardens Walk

Dinner - not included. Recommendations at the front desk.

8:30 pm Workshop & Discussion Around the Fire with Danny & Mara: RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE BEST KIND OF LOVE

Warm chocolate chip cookies served nightly by the Inn.

SUNDAY, MARCH 2

Breakfast Included. The Inn serves stone ground breads from a local wood fired oven in Windsor, fresh fruit, granola, farm fresh eggs, and Vermont Greek yogurt. Tea & Coffee served 24/7.

Check-out. Trains depart Windsor for Penn Station at 11:30 am, arrive Penn 6:30 pm

Cost for a Room, Meals Indicated & Workshops

$200/per night - Single Occupancy ($400 total for 2 nights)
$250/per night - Double Occupancy ($500 total for 2 nights)

The Inn is giving us a smoking deal!! (You can see on their website that prices are normally much higher.)

To Book…

Contact Snapdragon Inn ASAP to reserve a room. (802) 227-0008. Space is VERY limited. We'll only have space for a few individuals or couples at this event so if you're interested, I recommend booking ASAP. Also, if you aren't able to stay at the Inn, you're still welcome to come to the workshops. Please call Snapdragon to reserve your space (no set fee for this, but donations welcome). Also, the Inn can book any activities or restaurant reservations you might be interested in. They have great relationships with the people in the area.

Optional Add-On: A welcome basket from Sustainable Farmer in Windsor, Vermont. Ask the Inn for more details about the local artisanal goodies in the basket. It sounds amazing.

  1. So beautiful! Pretty much anywhere you two are traveling these days seems to be ending up on my wish list.

As for speaking engagements, you know I'd LOVE to see ya'll in San Antonio/Austin. They're about an hour apart...so two birds. I'd love to help with anything from scheduling, planning, logistics. We're only here for the next 5 months--and the last couple will be somewhat crazy--but still, if you make it anytime in the next few months I'm your right hand man, your my girl Friday...whatever you need. :)

    1. Miggy, thank you, thank you for this offer to help!
We'll think about if we can make it in the next 3 months, but I'm guessing we'll still be getting settled in Cuenca. Where are you headed next?

  2. Santa Cruz, CA would be a great spot! We're on the ocean and convenient to the Bay Area. Beautiful mix of redwood forests and beaches. Activities could include surfing, paddle boarding, mountain biking and hiking. We also have a cute downtown with lots of great local places to eat, galleries, shops, etc. Lots of possibilities for location...I will check with a few and get back to you!

    1. Ah, thank you, Katie!! I think CA is a must. Maybe we could do a road trip and stop at a few places along the coast.

  3. I am loving this idea to come to us! I live in Texas and think if you came anywhere in Texas I would travel to meet you. My advice would be to avoid Texas in the summer though, too hot ;)

  5. Oh my that looks beautiful. My vote is Northern Utah. Seriously, how much of us here in the Beehive State love you? I have seen people I know from my neighborhood commenting on your blog, when I had no idea that they followed it. Come back to Utah, visit family, and bring your wisdom to us!

  6. I'd love to host you in Bloomington, Indiana (home of Indiana University). It would be great to see an event on campus or in the community--check out the Buskirk-Chumley Theater (http://www.buskirkchumley.org/). The event at the Snapdragon Inn sounds wonderful, but is hard to get to on a grad student's calendar. I think you both might enjoy visiting nearby Brown County, IN (an artist colony known for landscape paintings).

    4. Indiana people - would it be possible for you to come to Chicago? I have something in the works for downtown Chicago but just wondering if we could all gather there (starting Fri. PM to Sat.) If that wouldn't be possible and if there were enough people, we could still maybe go to Indiana.

    5. I could make it to Chicago. Indiana would be great but Chicago is close enough--just happy to catch you before you leave the country. :)

  9. Ah! Vermont is my dream destination. :) I JUST had a baby, though, so last minute travels are not happening. I'd love to see you in Idaho ( though I know it's not glamorous). I'd be more than willing to help you make arrangements, but just note that I'm not super connected or anything. I would love to meet you and help spread your message!!!

    1. Thank you so much. Danny's brother works as a river & fishing guide there. We have been dreaming of visiting and maybe we could combine it with an outdoor outing of some kind (which could be optional - esp for new mamas! Congratulations, by the way!!)

  13. Oh my. What an amazing event in such a lovely place! Attending any of your workshops would be a dream come true for me. Unfortunately, I'm not anywhere close to the States. I'm from Malaysia. :) This is my first time commenting and I've been following this blog for almost 2 years now. I'm glad to come across ABAL and make it a part of my life. So much to learn about happiness and love. You're my role model Mara. Danny too. I love you both so much, even though we've never met. I wish that someday we have the chance to meet. Sending love to you all the way from Asia. :)

  18. Would love to have you come to the Portsmouth NH area! My husband and I have a cottage on a humble little lake there and plan to call it home full time later this year. Living in CT for now. We will be up there the weekend you are in VT. I would love to sneak over for an evening to attend "Relationships with the best kind of love" if we could swing it somehow (not sure). At any rate, it would be so great to meet you both sometime. Trying to figure out what I want to do in my next life (blogging seams like a cool job!) F.Y.I...my husband and I met in the Galapagos! All the best to you both!

And holy moly - meeting your spouse in the Galapagos! That's hard to beat. So cool.

It would be the perfect weekend and I so love to attend those workshops and get to meet you! I am so tempted but money is really tight right now so I suppose I should be practical and stay home - no fun!

    1. Poland would be AMAZING. My sister lived there and I've been dying to visit. We are going back to Europe later this year (Sweden, actually) so Poland is a very, very good possibility. I'll keep you posted!! It will likely be in July.
