Love Announcements

Writing from a junk yard today!  We’ve been packing for our move – staying up way too late – trying to not skip showers – and generally trying to keep it together (all while listening to Icelandic music.  If you have any recommendations, do tell!  :).
In the meantime, some Love Announcements. 🙂 It’s been awhile.
-Brooke White & Summer Bellessa from The Girls With Glasses Show just made this darling video on ulive and named our blog as one of their TOP FIVE FAVORITE BLOGS! Holy smokes. This made us smile so big. The other (4) bloggers they chose make me awe struck as they are so talented: Oh Happy Day, The House That Lars Built, Small Fry, and Little Miss Mama.

-I’ve been obsessed with apres boots for awhile after seeing so many European women at JFK wearing them. Longtime readers here know I’ve been eyeing these Italian vintage Tecnica boots for quite some time. Well, I just got a pair for Scandinavia and now I don’t ever want to take these off.  They are so, so, SO comfortable and cozy warm. I’m in heaven.

-One of my dear friends gave me a little Christmas gift. It was a bag full of several of her “favorite things for one of her favorite women.” I just thought the idea was so, so darling and thoughtful. She included (2) pairs of socks from The Gap. She *always* has cute socks and now I know where she gets them.  🙂

-Erin from Reading My Tea Leaves posted about these wool blankets from Prince Edward Island and said they were her favorite blankets (and to trust her on that.)  Oh my, she has me sold. They’re on my wish list. And, so is Prince Edward Island for that matter!

-I really, really loved reading my friend’s post, “Saying Good-bye to My Design Mom Column.” It was so heartwarming to read – especially as all of us here in Brooklyn got to see her take on that job and wow us all with her beautiful posts. Koseli (on the left) can now be found at her own wonderful blog, Original Archiving Co. She’s one of the most amazing women I know and her writing just goes straight to your soul.

-OK, I’ve always loved the iconic Stendig calendar and had one for years. But the truth? It’s not that practical as you can’t write on it. But THIS ONE. It’s perfection. Download it FOR FREE (yes!) from House That Lars Built. Thanks, Brittany!
Love and Happy Weekend,

P.S.  I’ve been really wanting to write more about why we’re not adopting right now…and what things have been like on the baby front since our last IVF.  It’s hard to write because I think it’s hard for many to understand.  I need to find the words and I hope to get to it soon.  We’ve just been so, so busy getting ready for this move.  Love all you readers and thanks from the bottom of our hearts for connecting with us here.

I was at the concert of a danish singer on Wednesday and it was magical. Her name is Agnes Obel.
It's not from Iceland but I hope you will like it anyway!
    Enjoy your trip!

When you're ready, would love to hear your thoughts on the ivf/adoption, etc, front. As a woman with long term infertility who has felt really strongly to do certain things and not do certain things it's refreshing to hear from someone following a personal path that doesn't always line up with the 'expected' next step. We love you.

I'm happy to hear that you've been able to travel lately! Good for you!

Regarding the adoption/infertility. I just wanted to say that as a fellow blogger (of infertility), I respect your reasons for wanting to sort out your feelings before you broadcast them to the world. However, I wanted to encourage you to express what you are feeling, even if it's raw. Maybe you are, just not on here? Do what is right for you. Gosh, infertility is unfair and so, so hard. As a 6 year infertile I know some of this pain too.

I'm sending you my warmest wishes for peace as you navigate through the complexities of resolving your infertility, by adoption or living child free.

So many posts are just a matter of time and energy. I actually have already written why we are done as of now and aren't adopting, but many people still keep asking – so I'd like to find a way to explain it better and more thoroughly. I know it's hard as for many as it's not the warm and fuzzy ending that many would expect or hope for.

I too am interested in reading where you guys are with the adoption/baby front. We are now to the point where we get asked if we'll adopt, or why don't we adopt or after hearing that we have had failed treatments (ivf) someone says "well you can always adopt". It's hard to know how to respond when truthfully we just are not there yet and we may never be.
