We get letters daily from readers, which we never expected – but has turned out to be one of our favorite things about this blog.  I would love to start sharing some of these letters with you from time to time – solely to help inspire you on your path.  Miracles really are happening!!!  It’s just amazing.  SO MANY are making big & small changes; loving in a better way; learning to face their trials; and learning to reclaim their strength and self-worth.  I cannot even express how much joy this brings to us.  I thought it would bring you some joy, as well.

Here’s a short but powerful note.  We’re so amazed by this dear reader.  And I just love the article she links to from the NY Times – you absolutely must read it (yes, a baby was found in the subway!!!)

Hi Mara and Danny,

I have been a faithful ABAL reader for the past year and I cannot even begin to tell you how much you both have touched and changed my life.  I left a verbally/emotionally abusive relationship less than three weeks ago and it was your writing and wisdom that gave me the strength to do so.  Thank you for forever changing my life in one of the most beautiful and profound ways possible.  There is so much more I could write and share with you and I will sit down and do that one day (I am also a fellow New Yorker, so maybe I will take you up on one of your park walks this spring.  It will mean so much to be able to thank you in person for the gift you have given me – my true, authentic, imperfect, wonderful self!)
Thank you for your continued gentle reminders to be the best version of my self, to surrender to the best life possible, and to expect nothing less than respect and radiant love from whoever I choose to be with (wow, did my world change when I realized I can CHOOSE who to be with).
In the meantime I read this story posted on NY Times blog today and immediately thought of you:
It is about love and family and children and being open to all the possibilities.
With love and gratitude,

Wishing you all lots of happiness and love all around,
M + D

P.S.  Any letter we share from a reader will always be done so with permission first.  🙂  And if you have a story you’d like to share, we’d so love to hear from you!!  Your letters mean so much to us.

I just found this blog over the weekend and LOVE the message it sends. My story is very similar to anon above, but I CHOSE to let another emotionally abuse me for 18 months of my life. It broke me down, robbed my self worth & esteem and I no longer knew who I was. I can only control how I treat myself, and now it's the best version of how I want to treat another in the future, no matter what has happened in the past. I'm glad for this time to do that, and finding blogs like this…well…that's just a bonus!! 🙂

I read that article this morning, amazing to find it on your blog as well. I read another very insightful article this morning that I think reiterates what you are always saying on your blog about how to love:
