UPDATE: I just saw this darling pink & red dress. And I think I solved their lipstick dilemma :)
And I was glad to have an excuse to wear my birthday gift from my sweet Mother-in-Law. These are going to be my go-to shoes for spring. And yes, I feel ridiculously spoiled. (I have one other pair of shoes from Frye, and I can tell you they have the BEST customer service ever!! They actually replaced a pair of shoes for me once. So - I tell my friends, if you ever buy their brand, buy from them directly.)
And then! I saw this cute couple out and about in Brooklyn - all decked out for Valentine's Day. They were just beaming when I asked them if I could take their photo. The boyfriend loved the photo so much he asked if I would send it to him. Kind of adorable.
So dish - did you wear anything festive on Valentine's Day? (Um, bedroom attire counts, too. I did that, as well. So fun :) :)

The hardest part of choosing a Valentine's outfit was the sheer amount of appropriate choices I had to decide between! When I looked in my tights drawer it came down to solid red, white with little hearts, or pink with polka dots. I ended up going with red tights, brown oxfords, pale pink vintage skirt, skinny red waist belt and white shirt tucked in....of course with a gray cardi, because I can't help it. But seriously, I love the shameless red + pink color combo. And I might have to keep dressing up for the holiday all weekend so I can wear my other tights too :)
ReplyDeletep.s. love love love that happy couple!
DeleteOh my - Your outfit sounds adorable!!
DeleteOh dear. Can that couple be any cuter?
ReplyDeleteI wore purple on purple the day of....with some red lingerie that night! So fun! I love being festive :)
ReplyDeleteI bet you made that couple's day, and all of ours! I think I notice better people beaming with love after reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteMara, I just discovered your blog yesterday and I spent my entire evening reading up on so many things. Thank you, I laugh, shed a tear and felt inspired. So much of what you do and who you are resonates with me. It is nice to know there are other people out there that are passionate and crazy about things like dairy free, gluten free and homemade products. I did the coconut oil "wash" this morning, I have a new love again. Love coconut oil for cooking. Anyways, Thank you so much for being you and sharing that with the world. You are my new inspiration for so many thing, trust me, if brooklyn was an easy place for me to get to, I would have been there today taking you up on your offer of coffee and an hour chat. I live in western Canada. You can check out my blog were I have been charting my course through Paleo. www.ashleymikereina.blogspot.com
ReplyDeletePS - I wore a pink bra and panties!! Mine was for the bedroom. ;)
at first, i was not festive... then, when i used my JCrew giftcard on a whim, the on-sale shirt i bought happened to be bright pink--PERFECT with my new blazer :)
ReplyDeleteI wore red skinnies with heart earrings and a valentines bracelet from my mom years ago.
ReplyDeleteDo you not worry about GF lipstick? I bought some special so that my fiancé wouldn't get sick. Maybe you are not as sensitive? I get my GF lipstick from Red Apple Lipstick. It's a darling company. And they are committed to not using weird chemicals too!
ReplyDeleteHi cute Mara! I have celiac and am in the process of fertility treatments as well and noticed that your FAB lipstick is by MAC...check to see if it is on their gluten free list. Most of their products contain gluten and soy which amazingly absorbs into your system. Bummer! But NARS is all gfree...it is all I use now including their skin care line, which is amazing!
ReplyDeleteCamille - you're so sweet to write. Just today, actually, I was trying to look up that info. on my lipsticks. So thank you so much for passing along, too! I'm new at converting my beauty products to be GF - I didn't realize until recently that I most likely have been reacting to some of my products. It turns our I need to find a new product for my curly hair. I just found out my Aveda Curl Cream that I've used for 10 years or so has wheat protein in it.
DeleteHere is a link...I love this web site for ideas. I have been an Aveda snob :) for years and was so sad to find gluten in so many things. It took me a couple years to totally be gfree....and I am sure I will keep finding little things. Thank you for your blog!
