I love all the little acts of kindness and love that take place on Valentine's Day!! Ahhh, it's so fun and so sweet to see. Did you have any kindness coming your way? Or do anything that made someone's day? It's always fun to hear creative ways for how to do something kind.
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Love from Brooklyn,
Mara

We made cookies and valentines for family and friends! My little four year old and I went door to door delivering them in the evening, and seeing the faces light up at the sight of the cookies we had made for them, and that my little guy had deemed them worthy of a valentine from him, was so worth the effort! Here's the link to my blog so you can see the cookies http://iammarathonmama.blogspot.ca/2013/02/from-heart.html
ReplyDeleteAnd funny enough, we had fish tacos for dinner too!
Oh - I love that so much. That Valentine cookie tradition is the best. We did that every year growing up and I have the fondest memories.
DeleteFor the past two years, I've been saying that I want to get a fish again. This Valentine's Day, my husband got me three goldfish! It was such a great surprise!
ReplyDeleteI had an early miscarriage (10 weeks) three weeks ago and these little fish made me feel the happiest I've felt ever since then. But even more? The fact that my husband remembered that I wanted to get a fish, and he got me not just one, but three! How I love that man.
That is SO, SO sweet. I had a fish once here in Brooklyn and it was such a fun experience. That little guy actually had tons of personality and it seemed we could watch it for hours. Enjoy your new fishies and best wishes! xo
DeleteYou know where I live I barely saw any men buying flowers or cards so I'm relieved to see this!! Maybe I just didn't go to the store last minute enough to see them! hehe. =)
ReplyDeleteHappy valentine's day!!
Ergo - Blog
Being single and having very many single friends, I decided to give them all a little extra loving yesterday just on a whim. I whipped up some pink and white swirled cupcakes with white chocolate whipped cream frosting and made some deliveries. I was surprised by the shock and excitement everyone expressed at being remembered on the day of the year when it can most seem like nobody knows you exist. It was something so simple that brightened my day and their's and I'm really glad I thought to do it.
ReplyDelete...I might also be enjoying the leftover cupcakes as a nice perk for a small good deed. Haha :-)
I hand wrote cards to my friends who are single and suffering from it! I posted it before, to make sure they can open it at Valentine's day, I wanted them to receive a Valentine! So I told them that Valentine was not only about "couple's love" and I told them how important they were in my life and how much they are loveable, lovely and loved!
ReplyDelete(And, oh my! I received so much happy tearful answers!)
I am out of employement right now, so my gift to my sweet heart was quite modest (2 t-shirts). But I have decorated our home with hearts, I made love declarations on stickers to but it on each fruit ("I am going bananas over you", "we make the perfect pear", etc. As seen in "a cup of jo") and I made paper flowers (well, I've tried to)to offer as a buquet! But the meaningful detail was that I used the draft papers of the documentations we needed to complete the file to our upcoming marriage at the town hall! We have compkleted the file the day before Valentine's day! And he was so touched by my attempt to a bouquet!
And he offered me something I have been dreaming of for the last 4 years (and not being able to afford): a bike! He knew I was trying to put money aside to offer me one, but I never made it, because very month some unattended expense arrives (doctors, somebody's international visit - so I have to go to another town to meet them, helping out a friend, etc.). It was so very sweet!

I wrote a heartfelt card... I do random acts of love all the time, but this seemed like a good time to put some of my thoughts to paper. And magically (if I'm honest, they may have been given to me at Christmas) I had a red box of chocs in the cupboard!
