It’s my birthday as I start this post. I shouldn’t be writing on my birthday, but I can’t help it. I just feel too happy.
My birthday (Friday) began with my husband snuggling me up in the morning (he always gets up earlier than me so he is usually my alarm clock, which I love!) And before we got going for the day, we said a little prayer together. He just expressed so much gratitude for me. Is there anything better to hear as a wife? (I really, really think that prayer – or any equivalent – is worth gold in marriage….In case you missed this post, I wrote all about that here: How to Keep a Marriage GLUED)
Later Danny said…”Um, you might want to get ready for the day, just in case.” 🙂 A few minutes later, our buzzer rang. My dear friends came over to surprise me with a breakfast date. It could not have been more wonderful to just catch up with friends and have a delicious brunch in Brooklyn (especially with some of my favorite kids ever.)
Later I met up with Danny for dinner. But just before, he presented me with a gift that my parents had sent along for me. He said I would really, really like it. I opened the package and gasped! I knew exactly what it was…some clothes that my grandmother wore as a Rodeo Queen in Bisbee, AZ. In fact, I got the very outfit that is pictured here in this photograph of my grandmother (we actually used this photo for some Harvey branding). I couldn’t believe it.
For dinner we went to Rose Water in Park Slope, the same place we went two years ago for Danny’s birthday. To surprise Danny then, I had our awesome waitress bring out his gift with our appetizers (I arranged this prior). She gave me my appetizer and then said to Danny, “And…for you…” and then gave Danny a plate with his gift on it. It was so fun. (She was the best actress!)
So on my birthday, we were sitting there just chatting and the waitress brought out some bread (she was the same waitress). She said something like, “I know you’re gluten free, but here’s some bread for Danny.” It looked like a lot of bread in there. Like – probably many yummy varieties and probably steaming hot. I couldn’t wait for Danny to open the napkin so I could see all the bread in there that I was missing out on. And then…he opened the napkin. And there was a little gift for me from him! I was so surprised I think everyone heard me gasp and kind of squeal. hahaha. I just couldn’t believe it and certainly didn’t expect it. I turned and the entire staff and kitchen were all watching and giddy. SO cute.
So…birthday surprises are the best. I highly recommend them. 🙂 🙂
Hope you all have a happy Monday!
P.S. I also got to attend a baby shower over the weekend. My Brooklyn friends have such great taste and always give the BEST gifts. Since I know nothing about the latest baby stuff, I had to document a few things. Here are some of my favs…
May I ask, do you have any “go-to” gifts for baby showers?
Facebook (We so appreciate all the “likes”! thank you.)
