Love Announcements

-Look at this gorgeous NY calendar ($24) you can buy on-line from photographer/designer Jenna Park of Sweet Fine Day, here in Brooklyn.  I love it so much.  For November, 30% of proceeds go to Hurricane relief.  So sweet of her to do this.  It's the perfect Christmas gift.

-A friend and one of my favorite women here in Brooklyn happens to be one of Design Mom's new editors - Koseli Cummings (see gorgeousness above).  It's fun to read her posts each day - they are delightful.  I loved this one about Dumbo's beloved vintage carousel that survived the hurricane.  "Meet Koseli" and see her own personal blog here.
-Loved this article about the Mormons helping people in Connecticut after the hurricane.  So inspiring.  Yay for all the churches and organizations out there joining together to serve.  They are all coming out in droves.  Congregation Beth Elohim in Park Slope is doing wonders.  Community organization is the best.

-Park Slope Parents - THE parenting website of all websites here in my hood - is currently collecting "Happy Cards" and "Happy Letters" from children so they can uplift some of the elderly evacuees in a nearby shelter (so sweet!)  If you know some children who would like to send some love, send to:  Operation Feel Good, 438 12th Street, Ph C  Brooklyn, NY  11215.  They will get them to the right place.

-Iceland!  This has been on my mind lately.  I'm obssessed with hot springs (and babymoons. I'm so lucky to say I've had a few of them.  I can't complain :)  These photos and this post will entice you to visit Iceland, too.  (btw, this new to me Brooklyn blog - bigBANG Studio - is dreamy.  Thanks, Marlene, for passing along!)

-Are you guys in the mood for gift guides?  I personally love seeing people's selections.  Danny and I are working on some ideas for you.  But here's mine from last year.  And Danny's. :)

-8 ways to tell if your man means it when he says he's ready for marriage. (These are basic clues,  but sometimes we still need these.)

-Bond.  Will you see it?  It's getting good ratings.  Danny and I love a good movie date night :)

-Speaking of movies, they just released a 2nd trailer for Les Miserables.  We're obsessed.  :)

Wishing you all a warm and happy weekend!  We'll be trying to get gas (odd days for me, even days for Danny).  And, we'll be heading out to Coney Island.

off I go for a run,

P.S.  You guys have to be the best blog readers in the world.  THANK YOU for your super kind notes yesterday.  XO!

  1. So glad you liked that blog! I knew you would. There is something so gorgeously desolate - and yet luscious - about Iceland. I've been thinking about it a lot lately myself. There is something oddly beautiful about finding warmth in a cold landscape - like those hot springs!! Have a wonderful weekend. Thanks for all the links!

  2. Oh my gosh! My boyfriend and I have been dream planning a trip to Iceland for almost 2 years now! We keep our eyes posted for deals, but so far haven't been able to take the time or spend the money to go (there's always something stopping us...) but we're really trying to make the time this Spring because it is so, so beautiful!

  3. We've travelled to many places across the globe, but there is no place else like Iceland. It is simply amazing. The kids were 4 and 1 when we visited and they loved it. The food is organic by default and local parents drop off their kids to play at the playground and pick them up hours later with no worry about their safety. Oh and "Blue Lagoon" is a must visit before catching the flight back!

  5. M&D,

You guys...I'm about 1/4 the way through Les Mis. So good. SO good. But like, Argh! at the same time. Anyway, can't wait to finish before Christmas!

  6. My husband and I just went to Iceland in September. I couldn't recommend it more. Go! Explore! Soak in the natural hot springs! You won't regret it. You can read about our trip on my blog here if you wanna wanna: http://nickischmidt.blogspot.com/2012/10/iceland.html

    1. Nicki - AMAZING pics and Iceland recommendations. Thank you!

  7. Thank you so much, Mara. You are golden. Lots of love to you and Danny! xo

  8. Such a coincidence you mention Big Bang Studio...I've been thinking all week that I need to connect you with Lily, the writer of that blog. She too lives in Brooklyn and like you, is doing a great job of keeping everyone abreast of opportunities to serve in your area. She is very kind and I think you'd like her...perhaps find her on Twitter. Lily Stockman. xo
