|Good-bye Brooklyn! Heading to the hills.|
and I took a little nap there (remember our night before? At this point
I was so exhausted! 🙂 But Danny was so happy to be there that he couldn’t sleep. When I woke up, our camp was set up and he had dinner all ready. He just couldn’t wait. 🙂 And, “lean-tos”!!! Guys, they’re these cute little huts up in the mountains – you can just stay in them if you’d like. (They don’t have these out West.)
And now let’s talk about hiking attire….I had some wins and I had some mistakes:
Hiking Boots – These things saved me. Wearing tennis shoes on this hike would have been a huge mistake. Luckily I had these boots from like 1997 and I’m so glad they’re still around!!!
Pants – OK, skinny jeans are NOT the best idea for hiking 🙂 Because of all the climbing and activity, I realized it’s best to have a slightly looser, light weight pair of pants. Also, these pants were a little low fitting and my pack kept pulling them even lower. Oh my. Next time I’ll wear pants with a higher waist.
Layers – I scored here. I took a cotton jacket and a super warm polar fleece jacket. This way I could double up, or use either one separately depending on the time of day (or how much I was huffing and puffing up a mountain. 🙂
I can’t wait to be in the mountains again with my mountain man. 🙂 🙂
