Love Announcements

-This post.  Oh. my. goodness.  We were dying.  It's about our blog.  And two teenagers in Spain.  It had us smiling from ear to ear.   (Hi guys!  We think you're awesome.  And your mom is amazing :)

-Big news for Brooklyn:  81 year-old Patsy Grimaldi and his wife Carol have opened up a pizzeria again (they were the original owners of the famous Grimaldi's, but sold it in 1998.  The entire history is here.)  Their new place is called Juliana's (named after his mother) and it's at 19 Old Fulton Street.  If I were you, I'd go just so you could say you had a pie by THE Patsy Grimaldi.

-Tom’s Diner in Prospect Heights is one of the coolest places to eat breakfast in Brooklyn.  Just had breakfast there with one of my oldest New York friends.

-Am I really doing IVF?  Oh my - yep, we're going for it quite soon now.  But I can’t wrap my head around it.  That and the possibility of having a baby.

-The colors in Prospect Park are just stunning right now.  I can hardly take it in on my daily walks, which I’ve been better about doing again.  Let's all make it happen!

-I just stocked up on my all-time favorite hairspray in the world, Bumble and Bumble Does it All.  (I snagged a couple on E-Bay this time.)  I've tried other hairsprays, but somehow this one does the best with what Danny calls my "Mara hair".  (See all my tips here :)  FYI, I spray this on my damp hair and also use it as a finishing spray once my hair is dry.

Off I go.  It's night time in Brooklyn and it's time to snuggle with Danny.  We've been looooving our window open and lots of covers.  Heaven!

xo,

Mara

  1. I love that post that the mother wrote about your blog! I'm sure you two know by now how much of an inspiration you have been to your readers. I even wrote about your blog a few months back in my "Blog Crush" series (there's actually only been one so far, so I don't know if I can call it a series yet:)

  2. Ok, I can't resist any longer. I'm what they called a "bleeder" in my comp class in college because I feel the need to write things perfectly the first time...so, I've been reading your blog for days and my heart is bursting to tell you so many hard and dark and bright and wonderful and hopeful thoughts, but I've resisted for fear I'd ruin them by saying something.
That being said....What all these thoughts boil down to in a tiny nut-shell is, thank you. I came across your blog through Pinterest. Someone pinned the J.Crew styling tips one. While I loved the tips, I was really interested to see if I could figure out how you do your hair:) Your curls are similar to mine and it turns out we style them similarly too:) Anyway, I fell head over heels for your blog and began reading it from the beginning several days ago. I can't count how many times I've thought "Yes!! Exactly!" not only for the tips and encouraging thoughts you express, but also for the hard, and dark expressions.
I'll not go into details here for your sake and that of your other dear readers, but I just want to say that we have so much in common in our hearts and you have given me hope in a foggy time in my life. Your vulnerability has lifted this girl and I want you to know that. You are fulfilling a purpose. What a beautiful story you and Danny have to share and I feel blessed to have shared in it. Thank you:)

    1. Rebecca - sometimes I really kind of feel speechless. These comments today have just about done me in - in a good way. THANK YOU for being brave and writing in. I couldn't be happier that our posts are resonating with you. It's a miracle to me to get it all out and to see it changing people's lives. I really can't thank you enough for writing in. Hearing from our readers helps us know we should keep writing. :) xo

  3. I've been a faithful reader since May and can honestly say that I feel my live changing. Others have noticed too. I love what that mom wrote in her blog because that's exactly what I love about this blog too. I am at a very different stage in my life than either of you, and yet everything you write I can apply to my own personal situations. I am so grateful a friend introduced me so the blog and I have told many many others about it as while. The principles and personal examples you share help me to live my religion and faith better. I've realize the power I have within myself to choose to live the principals I know to be true more fully. I just wanted to thank you guys. Keep posting!

  4. You make me smile so much, I can't even tell you. And I am just delighted that my blog is resonating with you. Also, I really can't take credit for the blog :) I feel inspired beyond my own words in so much of what I write. But the GREATEST MIRACLE is that you are making this stuff real in your own life. That is just amazing!!! I couldn't be happier for you. It's the most empowering thing in the world to make changes and to feel the joy from doing so. And the coolest result of doing what you're doing is that everyone you come in contact with will benefit, as well. I am just so excited for you I can hardly stand it! :) :) Much love, Mara
