Love Announcements

-Isn't this 'Post-It Show' cute?  (It's the kind of kids' art project I could totally pull off because I only have office supplies around here. haha.)  It's from the window of a kids' art studio called Brooklyn Design Lab.  I get to pass their window displays all the time and the new installations of kids' art make me so happy.  (Their fall classes begin Sept. 10. )

-Hallelujah, I have an appt. with Rubi at her pop-up salon in NYC.  (If you're in NYC, you should totally go...$60 cuts and $20 braids.  You can't beat that!!)

-Commuting tips from a BuddhistI loved this.

-Seeing these works of art took my breath away and they make me want to nest.

-I was the lucky, lucky recipient of one of these and I am still smiling about it.

-These pictures of a family reuniting made me melt.  I can just imagine the mom and girls planning out what to wear for the occasion.

-One reader said she wears this temporary tattoo and it's a great reminder for her when she needs it. (Thx, Pam!)  I love this one, too.

-Oh, this woman inspires my social life.  Her post reminded me to start planning some parties.  For sure we'll do our annual Progressive Christmas Dinner again and I also want to fit in a Salsa Tasting Party (Danny is a salsa extraordinaire!)

-I'm kind of obssessed with flash mobs.  We saw one at the NY Philharmonic in the Park and then I saw this one from PS10, a public school that was flash mobbed in our neighborhood.  (It starts out creepy but then turns out really fun..especially when the Brooklyn school kids start dancing the shuffle...it's freaking awesome!!)  Thanks for sharing, Park Slope Parents!

And then THIS one just gave me chills.  I had to watch it several times and it just warmed my heart each time.  Thanks so much for sharing, Gabrielle!

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!!

With love,

Mara

  5. Oh happy day is my favorite! She's inspiring me to decorate my new apartment, and the fact that you and her lived in Paris as a life goal makes me want to go there like NOW.

    1. Ahh... Paris. do it!!! I'm a huge believer in just making stuff happen. If there's a will, there's a way. And if the timing is right, maybe it's worth it to go get a small loan, if need be. I did. I was 20 years old and I got a loan for $1,000. It was the best thing I could have done at that age. I knew I'd be able to pay it back as I had a job waiting for me when I returned. It was worth it completely.

  6. Oh I just loved that Som Sabadell flash mob. To have such high caliber musicians bringing the music to the masses like that and making a real human connection to the crowd just testifies that this world is awesome and people are so good! It brought tears to my eyes.
