Clean Up Your Wardrobe for Fall

I have another post on Babble called (7) Items to Get Rid of in Your Closet!  It's based on more of the tips from Marina Dobreva, the fashion stylist.  And then later I came across this list above, from Mimi + Meg.  So great.  I'm all for reducing stuff in our closets (and you would just laugh if you saw my closet right now.  This post is one big fat reminder for me.)  Luckily all of Marina's suggestions are different from Meg's....so today you have lots of ideas for cleaning up your wardrobe on the brink of this fall season.   Let's make it happen!

  2. I am getting ready to clean out my closet before moving my fall and winter clothes in, and SO needed to read this right now! Printing and taking it with me to remind myself as I weed through my things...

    Thanks, Mara! Happy Weekend:)

  4. To unknown, that "you've never been pregnant" remark sounded kind of cruel. Not that it was your intention necessarily, but anyway, I think we should all tread kindly. :) as far as clothing, you can still clear out things you never really liked, things that have gone out of style, things that won't be useful in your new life (if you've quit work and won't be needing all those suits, for example). For now you can keep most things that don't fit but that you hope to wear again in a box under your bed with a few things out for motivation. :) ten years and five kids later I'm still figuring out what will work now and hoping to fit into a few oldies but goodies. :)

    1. Mara, Maryanne, and any other readers,
I apologize for my comment. I in no way wanted to be cruel, rude or otherwise offensive. I'm sorry.

  5. My mother does this for other people as a secondary income. I helped a friend clean out her closet before she moved. It is a strange relationship we form with clothes simply because they were a first date item or for a big event three years ago, but we haven't worn it since. I always feel good passing along clothes to younger siblings/cousins or salvation army.

    great post!

  7. Printing this out and putting onto the actual closet would be great! Nothing better than a "face to face" reminder of how to keep clutter at bay.

I really do think this would be a good idea for people if they have trouble remembering what/why/how as they begin or keep trying to keep things organized and less cluttered.

    Good stuff!
