Blogging Conferences

Have you ever been to a blogging conference?
Were you a bit terrified the first time you went?

I was.  Oh man, I had to kick that fear in the butt (luckily, it worked).  But I feel so silly now thinking back…I mean, there was literally nothing bad about the entire experience.  It’s just crazy what our brains can do to us sometimes.

Well, BlogHer is this week in NYC and Alt Summit registration is next week, so I thought it would be a good time to pass on some (hopefully) helpful thoughts in case you’re going to a blogging conference for the first time.  See that post here on Babble.

FYI, I’m hoping to snag a ticket for Alt.  (Danny is going to join me, too. 🙂  Are you planning to go?  It would be so wonderful to meet you there.

I'm interested to know if there will be discussions about "what's next" in terms of blogging. There has been a good deal of talk about blogging going out and Facebook/Twitter-type mini-blogging taking over. Where will this leave bloggers who depend on their blogs for their income? I find this topic fascinating. I don't think blogging is actually on it's way out at a fast pace, but technology and the popular way of communicating is always evolving. Have they addressed this at Alt and are the career bloggers already gearing up for this? I'd love to know. (I'm not that kind of blogger, but the topic interests me just the same.)

Good question! I wonder myself. I'll let you know if I hear any chatter about this. So far, I haven't heard much about what's next. Though, video is really growing a lot…so I can see people expanding a lot in that regard (personal channels, etc.)

Would you and Danny consider doing a fireside/devotional sort of thing while you are in SLC? I know there are lots of folks who would love to get to hear you speak in person. Just a thought!
