The Happiest Moment of the Day

My happiest moment is when Danny gets home from work.
I'm like a puppy waiting.  I hear the keys outside our door.  I get all excited.
I smile big and just feel so happy to see Danny.
He's usually all dressed up and looking hot.
And I look like a very unkept housewife/blogger!  eeks!
I don't have dinner ready.  The house is a mess.
But I would have written lots of posts and done as much as I could to "work" in the ways I call work these days (Blogger, Gmail, Pinterest, Twitter, Repeat).
And he loves me for it.  He's so very supportive of what I'm doing, even if I don't look like this everyday.  :)  He just comes in and says, "Hi dearie!  So happy to see you!"  And I melt.  I will never get used to that.

What is the happiest moment of your day?  (Please include all stories involving dogs and kids.  I am considering both :)

P.S.  A couple more things:

-You know how I offered to meet up with readers and go for a walk in the park?  Well, it's been a really cool experience and we've so loved meeting our readers.  We came across this sweet post from one of those women we met up with - she wrote about the experience.  Thanks, Aubry!  xo

  1. My happiest moment of the day (Monday-Wednesday) is seeing my boyfriend on Skype. He works in Pittsburgh during the week.

That being said, Thursday at around 6:00pm is my favorite time of the week because I get to reunite, face-to-face with the boy. And it doesn't get much better than that.

    1. Oh man - It must be hard to be apart, but I bet you guys have the best reunions ever every Thursday - how cool. (Reminds me of when I would see Danny every weekend, while we were dating.)

  2. Oh and GET A DOG! They are so wonderful. If my apartment wasn't a no pet zone, I'd have one. :)

  3. My favorite part of the day is actually right at bedtime when I'm next to my husband and our dog is smooshed in between us. Such a complete feeling.
You should definitely get a dog. One that you can love HARD. One of my favorite moments of life is whenever I get home, and I like my car, which makes it honk. If I listen closely, I hear a single, happy bark come from our second floor apartment because Pete knows that's MY car being locked and he's about to see me!

  4. My favorite moment of each day is when I wake up in the morning, to a wet kiss from my cute mini-dachshund (Nashville, named after the place where my boyfriend and I took our first trip together) and looking over at Josh, taking the time to be grateful for the moment.

  5. My favorite time of the day are my FaceTime dates with my long distance boyfriend. We will watch our favorite shows together, or just hang out and catch up from the day. I love technology!

I will also add to the dog love. It has been mainly just me and my dog (Reese) for the past 5 years and it is so nice to have that lovable golden retriever face super excited to see me when I get home. My favorite part of the day with her would have to be at the end of the day. She will jump up on the bed and curl up next to me. It's nice having her there while I'm saying my nightly prayers. I feel so blessed in life.

It is also nice to have my dog around when I'm home a lot during the day... I admit, sometimes I talk to her like a person. She's curled up cinnamon-bun-style next to me as I am typing :)

  6. More doggie love: I was never a dog person until recently...Last July, I adopted an older chocolate lab...It's been the best decision of my life! Just this morning, I was thinking how my favorite time of the day is my very early morning walk with Jazzie Dog (she came with the name Jasmine and "Jazzie" has stuck). Every morning from 4:30-5:30 we go on a long, fast walk--no matter what the weather. She loves it, I love it. I love how calm everything is--the stillness of the air, the quiet of the morning, the birds chirping, and the sun just starting to creep up over the mountains. This morning I had to stop and snap a picture because the colors were so insanely gorgeous. And my cute Jazzie...just bops right along, her little ears flapping up and down with each step. It's darling!

  8. My favorite time of the day is aroud 6:30 when my husband gets home from work. I'm typically finishing up dinner. My 5 year old daughter watches faithfully for him to arrive. Once he pulls up, she screams, "Tell him I'm gone!" Then she hides. He comes in, kisses me and asks in a ridiculously loud where she is. She jumps out of her hiding place and scream, "Boo!" He acts terribly surprised and frightened and then he chases her around the house until he catches her. Once he catches her he tickles her until she gives him kisses and hugs. It's absolutely adorable to watch.

  9. My favorite time of the day is night time- tucking my kids into bed I get sweet hugs and I love yous. No more worrying about disciplining for the day or losing my temper or being the perfect mom. It's a sweet routine. Nowadays I also get to rock my little baby to sleep- such a sweet moment. Then it's time with my husband even if it just means watching Big Bang Theory together and laughing over a late night snack.

  10. This isn't a response to your question. Just a thought. Since a visit to NYC about 4 years ago it's been my dream to someday move there. My husband always reminds me that I won't have any friends there (and that it's hard to meet people). After reading your blog and reading about you meeting up with your readers, I thought to myself, "I bet Mara would be my friend!". LOL!

    1. Team - um, yes! Of course we'd be friends! I always love seeing people move to NY - just cause I did the same thing 12 years ago and it's been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Though even living here 1 year would have been great, too.

  11. thanks for the walk around the park - truly! such a highlight of my trip. you two were so kind... surely we could have walked and talked and spilled guts for a few more hours. little things trigger thoughts of our conversation every now and then and i'm continuously making an effort to put the things we talked about into practice... thinking happy thoughts when things aren't going so well, reminding myself of the things i'm grateful for instead of drilling into the crummy things. and yada yada YADA. they were great walking/talking hours... i could go on and on!

  12. I was early getting to the office this morning so I stopped by my boyfriends on the way in (he just lives around the corner from my building).
I thought to myself "why don't we start every morning like this?!" It put a smile on my face and in my heart all day.

  13. Coming home to my husband is also my favorite part to the day! I always terribly miss him in the day. Question: Is it easy for you to work from home? I'm a dance teacher so I teach everyday, but this summer I have Thursdays off. I write a blog also and I also want to write some curriculum this summer! But I find writing from home is so distracting! I even make a list, but I find myself cleaning, or even worse in the fridge! :p Sometimes I go to the coffee shop, but then my computer dies, or I have to pee, or the wifi runs out! Do you have a trick to working from home? I have yet to figure it out! p.s. I am in love with your blog. I look forward to reading it everyday! :) xo

  14. Maria - I've been wanting to write a whole post about this. But well, I actually love working from home. However, when I first started doing it, back when I started the clothing line, it was very difficult to adjust. Like you, I found myself wanting to clean, eat, watch a movie, take a nap, etc., because those were the things I was used to doing when I was home. It actually took me a few months to adjust. So I can see how just doing it one day a week could be tricky. Cause it seems it takes some time to really get in the groove of it. The problem for me now is that it's normal for me to sit at this computer and work...so much so that I need to force myself to take a break, to clean the house, take care of myself, go for a walk, or make lunch.
Anyway, I guess my best advice is that it takes time to adjust. Another idea - set a timer. Stay on task until the timer rings and it's lunch time or break time or whatever...that might help. I'll think of other ideas - stay tuned for a post....

Oh, and so glad you're enjoying the blog! That is so nice to hear - thank you very much.

  15. I have a life goal to make every moment of the day my favorite time of day! Does that sound cheesy or what? I figure if I'm not enjoying the day, then that's pretty much my problem.

    However, some highlights are:
Getting a good morning hug from my youngest son. He's 5 and growing up fast! Gotta get the Pick 'Em Up and Hold 'Em Tight Hugs in before they're gone!
Waking up, rolling over and holding my husband tight for those 10 minutes before I have to get out of bed.
Twilight in summer, when the lightning bugs come out, and we have a fire going in the fire pit. Pure bliss I tell you!

  17. The 3 best things that happen to me everyday are:
    1. When my handsome husband calls me on his way home from work...everyday at 6 pm he calls to let me know he is on his way home. He has a long commute (sometimes 1 hr-2 hrs depending on traffic). We end up chatting the whole time about our day, how much we love each other and all the cute things our 9 month old did that day!
    2. When I go to get my little one up from a nap! He is all smiles and giggles!
    3. The moment when my man gets home from work! His arms are truly home to me!

Thanks for encouraging me to look at the precious moments of everyday! It sure is fun to look at each day and think about what makes me smile!

  18. I'm not married, so I don't have a handsome man to come home to (yet!) but I'd have to say my favorite part of each day is when I am driving home and the sun is in the west part of the sky, the direction I'm driving. I like to take this back road home and there are fields I pass and I can see the mountains on the other side of the valley. I always get this feeling of peace and gratitude. I can't remember a day in a really long, long time when I haven't thought "wow it's gorgeous here! I am so blessed to live here". (I live in Cache Valley, UT) It never gets old. I just love that feel of gratitude and almost overwhelming awe of even the simple blessing of living in such a beautiful place.
