Well guys, I’m trying to get my feet wet over at Babble.

Kind of cool that they reached out to me, a new little blogger – and said, “Hey lovely lady, I want to talk to you about blogging for Babble.”  Really?  So awesome.  (I can thank Alt Summit and the Alt co-founder for introducing me to THE Catherine Connors, the director of blogs at Babble, not to mention one very chic woman who was also easy to talk to, even though we had just met.)  Well, I said yes (more like hell, yes!)  Because really, if I can try and spread the love in more places, then I will.  Cause that’s why I’m doing this, anyway.  And besides, Yahoo liked my first post.  They put it on their home page (ya-hoo, indeed!).  Let’s see if I can keep up with that. (yiiiikes.  I’ll admit, it’s a lot of pressure.  And I’ll be babbling my brains out trying to come up with worthy posts.)

So hop on over, help me spread the love, etc.  I have my very own column over there that I’ll be managing.  Sometimes I feel badly about putting great posts there, cause I want them all right here for you guys.  But, know that they are posted there for you, too.  They’re the same kind of posts.  And I hope they’re helpful to someone.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

P.S. I’m in the market for new hats.  I just have this one, above, which doesn’t offer much coverage.  I wanted to make it a Panama hat, but by the time I find one that fits, they’ll be out of style.  I’m thinking of a vintage boy scout hat.  Can you see this being cool?  Any other suggestions?

Please check out The Hat Shop on Thompson St. They will measure your head and help you figure out which shapes and brims are right for your face. Many of the hats are made by your neighbors right there in Brooklyn! They definitely have Panamas and loads of other great hats, both fancy and workaday. Over the years I have bought several hats there. The proprietress is lovely and the hats have lasted and lasted!

Anon – I literally can't wait now to go to The Hat Shop! (And Kee's Chocolate is on Thompson, too.) Thanks SO MUCH for the great suggestion…

I used to live on Thompson. Love!! Now I'm continents away, but always visit my favorite shops there when I'm back. The Hat Shop is tiny, but the owner really cares, gives you a lovely hand-written receipt, keeps your info on file and always thanks you for supporting independent stores. She can often order just the right shape/color combo if she doesn't have it in stock.

The area can get like a mall on weekends, as you know, so if you can, pick a quiet time to go. I think you'll love it! Also check out Deco Jewels nearby. I used to love going there for cuff links (Danny looks like the kind of gent who might appreciate cuff links!) and check out their vast selection of lucite purses. Yes, I said LUCITE PURSES! So fab!

Mara, I just checked out your Babble posts and they're wonderful! I sent the happy traveling one to my boyfriend and although we travel extremely well together, the tips really do apply to everyday life. Thank you so much for all of the wonderful love you share with us! Sara

O my Mara please know you and Danny are so appreciated! I read every post and always find something not just to brighten my mood, and to improve the way I see myself in my day, but also attitudes that have changed my life more deeply. Thankyou so much! Your negative mail is unfortunate indeed. I hope the sender can find a little more love and hope in their lives. Much live and hugs to you 🙂
