Our Holiday Trip To Salt Lake City

Some notes from our holiday trip to Salt Lake City:

-Best line from the trip (from a 3 year-old, during the Nativity on Christmas Eve):  “DONKEY UP, WESTON.  DONKEY, UP!!”  Weston played a great donkey.  🙂

NERF GUNS are really what every guy wants for Christmas.

-Danny’s family is truly remarkable.  I’ve never seen anything like it.  WE’RE TALKING 12 DAYS OF 100% KINDNESS from parents, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters.  HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!?!?!?!  Well, I saw it with my own eyes.  We’re talking no drama.  No cutting words.  SO wonderful to be with them all.  Miss them already.

LONE STAR TAQUERIA has some of the best fish tacos EVER.  And we got to eat there with our oldest nephew.  He’s awesome.

CAFE RIO was our first meal off the plane & it seeeerrrriously hit the spot.  (Very excited to hear that they have a Cafe Rio in the Washington D.C. area.  New York, please?  Brooklyn, to be exact?)

-I bought some $1 CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS from Down East.  How many???  Well, I got enough for 3 kids.  3 kids would be a miracle, wouldn’t it?   Though I wanted to buy enough for 5 kids, just in case.  Danny laughed.  I always think big.  We’ll see how many of those stockings get put to use……bring it 2012!

TALISKER in Park City has service & dining that is off-the-charts!  We looooved our meal there.   Could not have been a better experience.  Didn’t hurt that Danny’s brother works there and so they treated us like royalty.  🙂

[Ask for Jimmy…he’s seriously awesome.  And…he’s single.]

ASIAN STAR is one of the best Asian restaurants ever!  The sushi is out of this world.  Order the ‘Alf Roll’, named after my Father-in-law, Alf Kofoed.  [The Kofoeds are a major sushi family.  Even one of the nephews asked Santa for sushi :)]

This stuff saved my skin in the dry climate.  (I use it on my face & love it.)

-Can’t wait to return to Salt Lake soon for Alt Design Summit!  I can’t believe I’m going.  So excited to meet all the amazing bloggers out there.

I loved these photos. It looks like you had a wonderful trip! I know that feeling jealous is not a good thing, but I'm jealous that you're going to Alt Summit.

Someday I'm gonna go to ALT, too. I hope you have a great time!

These photos are fantastic. I'm happy you and Danny had a blessed Christmas!

    beautiful pictures, Mara!

nerf guns were part of our christmas too. though I think next year there needs to one for everyone. Especially ME!

Michael's family is the same way. It is so refreshing and the opposite of my family where drama always abounds.

Have fun at Alt! I wish I was going with you!

I bought stockings from Downeast too! Even though they had the wrong names on them, I just un-picked it and will put my kid's names on them. I only have one kid for now but I bought 3 more because they were so stinkin cheap. Love Downeast! Love your blog too 🙂

Lindsey – that's a great idea. I got the red and white ones and will just add some bright hot pink & colorful ribbons to make a band and cover the names. This will be my first craft project since the sock animals!! haha.

Someone In Mind – Thank you so much. Means a lot!

Erin – how I wish you were going with me to Alt!!

So this bio oil… it is safe for the face? I have sensitive skin. Do you use it on the rest of your body too?
ps- Found your blog via Rachel Thurston, she did our wedding too. She is amazing!

Yes – I've used it lightly on my face and LOVE it. I rub any excess on my hands but haven't really used it elsewhere. But I heard someone swearing by it's effectiveness with preventing stretch marks. Thx for reading and writing in! Glad to know another Rachel fan! 🙂

Mara! I'll be at ALT as well! Will have to keep my eyes peeled for you. And of course Brooke is speaking, and I'm sure there are several other Brooklyn alumni…Can't wait!

I love Lone Star! It's my favorite. We used to go there every time we would come into town. But now we live here and can go whenever! Such a fun little place. I'm glad that you had a great holiday!
