Bianca Merkley & Mindy Gledhill in NYC

Here is some more info on the
CD Release shows for
Bianca Merkley & Mindy Gledhill
in NYC on 11/11/11!
I hope so much that you all can go.
I think it's going to be awesome.
& NO COVER?  WHAT??  Even a $10 donation will be a steal for this event.

Bianca will be releasing her new album, "A Part of Me" at 6 pm and Mindy Gledhill will be singing in NYC for the very first time with songs from her new Christmas album, "Winter Moon" at 7 pm (yay for Christmas music!  You will find out soon enough that I am nut about Christmas. :)

Since Bianca is a dear friend, she gave me some scoop on her album and now I am even more excited for this concert.  There is so much meaning behind her songs.

Here are three songs from her new album.  Thanks, Bianca!

"Please Stay with Me" is about making the most of 'stormy' situations...isn't that what we're all learning how to do? She has come to realize (especially recently) that in order to be really happy, you must learn to "be content with what is already present." LOVE IT!

"A Part of Me" is inspired by experiences where you think you know what you're doing and where you are going, and then it all changes when you least expect it (this song was especially inspired by Bianca's own struggle with infertility + living in New York away from family, etc.) This song was written only about a month ago, and it just came to her one day and she felt like, "This is it! This is the little song she had been waiting for." It became the cover of her album.

"A New Day" was written during last year's long winter, so she wrote this as a way to visualize that spring was "sure to come" and that seeing the good in each day is a choice. As you can imagine, I love, love, love this message.

Can't wait to feel inspired by these great musicians!

(Oh, and something fun...I'll be giving away some of Bianca's CDs on this blog soon! Yay!)

xo,

Mara

P.S.  One of the coolest things about living in NYC is the amazing connections you have with graphic designers, musicians (such as Bianca), artists, writers, illustrators, interior designers, photographers, fashion designers, ETC.  Oh, and bankers & lawyers, too.  Basically, almost every person you know out here is doing something amazing.  It's kind of mind blowing.  There is one designer that I am DYING to tell you about....she designs jewelry in her studio in Brooklyn and all of us girls out here are literally going nuts over her work.  Pretty much everyone I know is wearing her stuff.  I need to photograph some of my favorite pieces and share them with you.  I'll do that soon.  I just can't help but pass along some good leads for you guys, especially since the holidays really are coming up ('Mara's Gift Guide' is in the works.  And Danny's, too. :)

  3. I just wanted to pop in and say hi as I've been excitedly waiting for you posts since I found your blog a few days ago. Danny put up a link on Facebook and I was intrigued by the title and I'm so glad I clicked on the link and found your blog! You two are inspiring! I'm so glad you found each other. I've loved reading your cute emails back and forth. Your voice and attitude are so refreshing. I've been so inspired by how you've chosen to handle your trials. You've given me pause to stop and look at who I'm becoming. So thank you! You guys are awesome and I'm excited to keep reading (or stalking :))!!!

  4. This sounds so awesome! Bianca was a counselor at an LDS girls camp that I went to when I was 12 and 13. I loved her then and she has the prettiest voice.
